The nonprofit community in Elkhart is strong and provides robust services and opportunities. The Community Foundation commits grant funding in addition to  workshops, coaching, and roundtables to build capacity of nonprofit partners. GranTs & ApplicationsDescription 
Community Investment GrantsThese grants support the work of nonprofit organizations serving Elkhart County in three general areas: Career Pathways, Kids & Families, and Placemaking.  To get started, contact a program officer. 
 

Grants less than $25,000 are reviewed and approved by the Program staff of the Community Foundation. Decisions are made within 6 weeks.

Grants over $25,000 are reviewed and approved by a committee of community volunteers. Decisions are made within 2 months.

Application Deadlines: August 15 and February 15
Trail Network Grants

These grants are for nonprofits developing, maintaining, or activating Elkhart County’s trail network. For access to these grants, contact Brittany Short

$1,000 or greater

 
Well Foundation

These grants support projects and programs that focus on health and wellness serving the people of Goshen and the greater population of Elkhart County.

$1,000 or greater

Application Window: August 15 to October 1
Bontrager Family Foundation

Bontrager family advisors will focus on making a measurable impact on organizations that share the same value system instilled deep into their family heritage, including Christian faith-based organizations, youth and families, the Middlebury community.

Up to $30,000

Application Deadlines: May 31 and October 31
Mishler Brown FundMishler Brown grants will be awarded to nonprofit organizations to support farming, agriculture, historic preservation of farms, barns and equipment, or preservation of natural resources. Grants are not limited to Elkhart County.Application Deadlines: December 31
Sponsorships

These grants support fundraising events for nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in Elkhart County.

Emergency Grants

Emergency grants are intended for sudden, unanticipated and unavoidable challenges that, if not addressed immediately, could threaten an organization’s stability and/or ability to achieve its mission. Must meet eligibility requirements.
